Catalog-Wide Pricing Optimization for B2B Retailer

A national retailer moved from repricing 350 products a year to fully automated, daily pricing across all 6,000 SKUs.

The Challenge

A national retailer with a 6,000-product catalog was manually updating prices for only 350 SKUs once per year. The remaining catalog was effectively static, leaving the business exposed to margin erosion, supplier cost changes, competitive misalignment, and inconsistent pricing logic across product lines.

As market prices shifted, the company had no scalable way to detect competitor movement, adjust pricing rules, or keep website and proposal pricing aligned with current commercial conditions.

The Solution

We built a custom pricing automation system designed to move the retailer from limited annual price reviews to full-catalog, data-driven pricing management. The solution included:

  • A competitor price scraping engine to monitor market pricing across relevant products and categories
  • A dynamic pricing model capable of generating optimized prices across all 6,000 SKUs
  • Pricing rules that balanced competitiveness, margin protection, and product-level positioning
  • Direct ERP integration so approved price changes could automatically update website pricing and proposal pricing
  • A repeatable pricing workflow that replaced manual spreadsheet-based updates with automated, market-responsive logic

The Results

The retailer moved from manually reviewing a small fraction of its catalog once per year to automated pricing coverage across the full product portfolio.

The new system enabled daily responsiveness to competitor price changes, improved alignment between market conditions and internal pricing, and strengthened margin integrity across product lines.

Most importantly, pricing became a managed system rather than a periodic administrative exercise.
